Adulting 101 

Getting ready to leave home? Heading to Post-Secondary?  
 
This program allows youth grades 10-12 to experience hands on, interactive sessions to prepare them for adulthood.

By Youth For Youth is an exciting program where youth (ages 12-18 yrs or grades 7-12) can be mentored to create a program or activity that is delivered BY youth and FOR youth!

Duke of Edinburgh 

Ready to get started on your Award? The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a challenge that requires commitment over time. However, the sense of accomplishment you’ll feel at the end of the journey will be worth it! It also looks great on post-secondary applications, scholarships, Resumes and job applications.

This is your chance to help plan youth activities and events within the Valley and surrounding areas. Learn how committees work while building community relationships. Want to use your social media skills to bring people together? This is the place for you!

Youth Drop In at the Family Resource Network

We invite youth across the Valley to drop in on Fridays at the Family Resource Network (703 2 Ave W, Drumheller, AB)

Registration for all paid events is required. After registering, please fill out the Annual Youth Program Waiver if you have not completed one already. The form is valid for all youth events for 365 days from date of signature. 

Cost will be $10.00 per teen OR $25.00 for all four events in the fall (Bowling, Rollerskate, and 2 Magic Clay events). The opportunity to participate at a subsidized cost is supported by Family Community and Support Services and AHS Mental Health and Addiction Grant. 

Payment will be accepted in cash on the day of the event or etransfer with note: Youth Event Registration to etransfer@drumheller.ca

 

Magic Clay (Make & 1 & Gift 1)

Do you want to get creative AND make a gift for someone special? Inspired by the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, teens between the ages of 12-18 or grades 7-12 are welcome to join us for two opportunities at the Cottonwood Clay Studio.

Create a beautiful ‘Magic Clay’ decoration. 

Stroke a brush of colour on your ‘Magic Clay’ and watch with wonder as the velvety colour dries within seconds. Each stroke of colour builds on the last, creating a visual richness that transforms before your eyes. The magic lies in the sensual process and the delight and wonder that no matter what colours or designs you add to your Magic Clay, you will never get muddy brown and your decoration will always be rich, vibrant and beautiful. 

Location: Cottonwood Clay Studio at the Badlands Community Facility 

Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Youth Christmas Dance

As 2022 comes to an end, Drumheller Valley FCSS is offering a Youth Winter Dance to support connections in the community during the holiday season.

What better way to bring teens together for an evening of music, food, and an excuse to dress up or rep a holiday sweater, or wear what makes you feel great! Teens between the ages of 12-18 or grades 7-12 are welcome to join us at the Jurassic Canalta.

Door prizes are awarded! 

Location: Jurassic Canalta Conference Centre: 1103 AB-9, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y0
Time: 7:00-10:00PM
Date: December 9th 

Transportation is provided for Starland County residence. Pick up at Morrin School starts at 6:30pm for those needing to complete an Annual Youth Program Waiver. departing at 6:45 pm. Return time by 10:15 pm. Bus capacity is limited to 21 seats.

Registration below is required. Closing Date is December 5th! This helps us know how many to expected when ordering food and drinks.

Youth Holiday Movie

We invite youth across the Drumheller Valley to join us at the Napier Theatre for a holiday movie! 

We will be watching Elf on December 23rd - just in time for the Christmas season! The doors will open at 3:30pm (to allow you to grab your snacks and goodies) with the show starting at 4:00pm.

This event is FREE and the concession will be open for purchasing popcorn and drinks. 

Leaders of Tomorrow Award 

This program honours youth in our community who demonstrate volunteer leadership in community and sports. There are four awards available every year, two for students in grades 7-9 and two for students in grades 10-12. The winners are presented with a cheque at the Celebration of Excellence Awards Night.
