The Town of Drumheller is pleased to announce the appointment of the inaugural members to the newly established Drumheller Valley Sports Committee (DVSC). This volunteer advisory committee will play a key role in supporting Council by identifying opportunities to advance sports development and recreational initiatives throughout the Drumheller Valley.

Seven community members have been appointed to serve a three-year term on the DVSC:

• William Buchanan – Alberta Soccer Association
• Ken Fournier – Drumheller Titans Football
• Amber Hodgson – Drumheller Dragons
• Colin Kloot – Drumheller Pickleball Club
• Gavin Makse – Drumheller Minor Soccer
• Kristi Murphy – Drumheller Mixed Slo-Pitch
• Linda Traquair – Alberta 55+ Board

In addition, Julia Fielding, Executive Director of Travel Drumheller, has been appointed to the committee as an organizational representative until 2028.

Councillor Stephanie Price has also been appointed as the Council’s representative to the committee. Her term will continue until October 2025, in alignment with her Council appointment.

“The Drumheller Valley Sports Committee represents a diverse and dedicated group of community leaders passionate about enhancing sport and recreation in our region,” says Councillor Price. “Their collective experience and insight will be invaluable as we work together to expand opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities.”

The DVSC will hold its first meeting in June. The committee will provide semi-annual reports to Council, outlining community needs, program development opportunities, and recommendations for recreation-related policies. Members serve voluntarily, with administrative support provided by the Town’s Recreation, Arts & Culture department.
