As a low-pressure system moves into central and southern Alberta this weekend, bringing significant rainfall and high winds, the Town of Drumheller is sharing important contact information and response protocols for potential weather-related issues.

Depending on the severity and number of reports received, Public Works crews will prioritize responses based on risk and public safety. Your patience and understanding are appreciated as we manage multiple service requests during this weather event.

Residents are encouraged to review the following guidance and contact information to ensure they are prepared and know who to call if impacts occur.

Fallen Branches/Downed Trees

Winds of up to 90 km/h may cause tree limbs or entire trees to fall:

  • If a fallen tree or large branch is blocking a road or pathway, please contact the Town of Drumheller at 403-823-1330 during business hours or 403-823-2512 after hours.
  • If a tree has fallen on or near power lines, stay clear and report the hazard to ATCO Electric immediately at 1-800-668-5506.

Catch Basins

Crews have been clearing storm drains ahead of this weather event, however, strong winds and rainfall may lead to debris blocking storm drains.

  • If you notice a clogged catch basin, report it to the Town at 403-823-1330 during business hours or 403-823-2512 after hours.
  • If safe to do so, residents can help by clearing debris from catch basin grates near their homes to prevent localized flooding.

Gravel Roads and Potential Washout

Heavy rain may affect road stability, especially in rural or unpaved areas. For gravel roads in Drumheller:

  • For reports of soft spots, washouts, or erosion on gravel roads or alleys, please call 403-823-2512 after hours.
  • Crews will assess and either mitigate the issue or install signage to alert road users.

Power Outages

  • If your power goes out, contact ATCO Electric at 1-800-668-5506 or visit their website at atco.com for outage updates.
