Together, the Badlands Community Facility and the Drumheller Aquaplex are planning a recreation-focused day camp for those impacted by the upcoming potential school closures. For children in kindergarten through grade six, we are offering a day camp filled with games, activities, swimming, and more.

Together, the Badlands Community Facility and the Drumheller Aquaplex are planning a recreation-focused day camp for those impacted by the upcoming potential school closures.

For children in kindergarten through grade six, we are offering a day camp filled with games, activities, swimming, and more.

We understand that this is a stressful time, and finding last-minute childcare is an added layer we want to help you avoid.

The Badlands Kids Zone is a flexible camp where you can register your child for as many or as few days as you need.

Program details

  • Kindergarteners up to Grade 6
  • Daily activities will include games, crafts, swimming, outdoor play and more!
  • Cost is $40 per day, or $175 for the week
    • Sibilings recieve 15% off 
  • Camp hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Early drop-off is as early as 7:45 a.m., with late pick-up no later than 5:15 p.m. 

 

Waitlist opens September 24, 2025

We are closely monitoring the teachers’ strike and are prepared to adjust our plans if necessary. Badlands Kids Zone can accommodate up to 40 children per day during any potential school closures.

  • A waitlist will open September 24, 2025, for parents to hold their spot(s).
  • If nothing changes by October 2, 2025, families on the waitlist will be contacted to complete payment and secure their registration.
  • Waitlisted spots will be held for 24 hours once families are contacted. After that time, the spot will be released and offered to the next family on the list.

When does the waitlist open?

The waitlist opens September 24, 2025. Adding your child to the waitlist helps us understand program demand and plan staffing.

  • On October 2 at 8:00 a.m., families on the waitlist will have 24 hours to register.
  • After that 24-hour window, registration will open to everyone.

What does my child need to bring?

Please send your child with:

  • Lunch and snacks
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Indoor footwear
  • Clothes that can get a little messy
  • Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing
  • On swim days: a swimsuit and towel

How do I register?

  1. Starting September 24 – add your child to the waitlist.
  2. October 2 at 8:00 a.m. – families on the waitlist can move their child into registration (priority given to waitlisted children, first-come, first-served).
  3. October 3 at 8:00 a.m. – registration opens to all families.

When registering, you can:

  • Select individual days or register for the full week.
  • Pay $40 per day or $175 for the week.

What if I need care outside of regular hours?

Our standard camp hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., but we also offer:

  • Early drop-off at 7:45 a.m.
  • Late pick-up until 5:15 p.m.

Extended care costs $7 per day and must be booked in advance.

What if my child is sick?

If your child misses camp due to illness, we can provide a credit (not a refund) with a doctor’s note.

Is this like Camp BCF?

Badlands Kids Zone is similar, but not the same as Camp BCF.
