Public Hearing: Fireworks Bylaw 09.21

PURPOSE: The purpose of Bylaw 09.21 is to regulate the sale and discharge of fireworks within the Municipality of Drumheller.  

The Town wishes to enact a bylaw for the purpose of providing for the sale, possession, storage and discharge of Fireworks in compliance with any applicable municipal bylaws, policies, procedures and guidelines, including the National Fire Code – 2019 Alberta Edition as amended, the Safety Codes Act, RSA 2000, CS-1 as amended, and the Explosives Act and Explosives Regulations.

The Town of Drumheller will hold a remote virtual Public Hearing during the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, May 17, 2021, commencing at 5:30pm.

The Public Hearing will be live-streamed at www.drumheller.ca.

This proposed Bylaw may be examined on drumheller.ca/your-municipality/bylaws or by contacting 403-823-1339 to request a copy.

Any person adversely or otherwise affected by this action and wishing to address Council relating to this matter shall contact cao@drumheller.ca or 403-823-1339 to make arrangements to attend the Council meeting on the 17th day of May 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Alternatively; written concerns may be delivered to Legislative Services 224 Centre Street Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y4 or emailed to cao@drumheller.ca; or completed Request to Appear as Delegation Form is filled out online.

Pre-ordering decreases waste, bulk purchasing keeps costs low, and member/volunteer commitments decreases the cost of running the program.

Municipal Planning Commission

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) comprises seven members, two of which are members of Council. Council appoints the five seats from citizens of the Town at large. MPC is authorized to make decisions on applications for development approval in accordance with the administrative procedures, land uses and schedules established in the municipal land use bylaw. Its decisions can be appealed.

Drumheller & District Seniors' Foundation Board

The Drumheller & District Seniors' Foundation Board (DDSFB) provides governance  with a mandate to ensure Drumheller Valley senior's have a high quality of life by providing affordable and supportive accommodations. 

This board consists of one elected official, and four members at large.

Citizens on Patrol Association

Citizens on Patrol Association hosts an executive committee with representation of one councillor, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Town of Drumheller's Director of Protective Services. The mission of this group is to assist the RCMP in monitoring suspicious activity in the Drumheller Valley.

Valley Bus Society is a non-for-profit organization created to ensure that accessible transportation is available to all persons with disabilities and seniors in Drumheller. This board comprises six members, one of which is an elected member of Council.
