Canada Day

CANADA! CANADA! CANADA!

Canada Day in Drumheller isn’t just a holiday, it’s a full-on, hometown celebration of community, fun, and everything that makes this valley roar! We keep it local, lively, and packed with unforgettable moments for all ages.

Start your day with one of Alberta’s most spirited Canada Day parades, followed by a thrifty swim to cool off!  Swing by for a slice of cake, hit up the ever-so-popular Farmers Market then enjoy roving entertainers bringing the event grounds to life (hint: we might have micro goats this year). And for the young, and young at heart, our Field House will be bouncing with wall-to-wall inflatable castles and attractions that are guaranteed to bring the giggles.

We have live bands throughout the afternoon, and of course, Canada Day wouldn't be CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! without booming fireworks to cap off this incredible celebration.

Canada Day FAQ

Where can I park?

Downtown Drumheller has on-street public parking as well as paid parking lots. The parking lots located at the World's Largest Dinosaur (60 Riverside Drive West) and the lot adjacent to the east of the arena will be unavailable for public parking on the day of the event.

Spaces included in the paid parking program within a short walking distance to the event are:

  • Badlands Community Facility parking lot
  • Street parking along Riverside Drive E
  • Town-owned parking lot on 1 Street E
  • Town-owned parking lot on 2 Avenue W
  • Town-owned parking lot on the corner of 2 Street W and Riverside

A detailed map is available on our Paid Parking page.

Please note that on-street parking along the parade route is not permitted the day leading up to, and the day of, the event. We ask that those travelling to Downtown Drumheller be mindful of not blocking private driveways, fire hydrants, and obeying yellow-painted curb areas when parking.

Will there be food available at the event?

Food Truck Alley is returning and ready to serve you up delicious treats! Check out this year's lineup:

  • Munchie Machine
  • Berta Burritos Tent
  • Pizza Hut Tent
  • Rosedale Recreational Society - Hot Dog & Burger Tent
  • Lil' Orbits Mini Donuts

Freson Bro's is also hosting an Alberta Beef on a Bun fundraiser with Drumheller Rotary right outside of their store shortly after the parade.

If the weather or fire conditions are uncooperative, how will we know if the fireworks are still going forward, or if they will be cancelled/rescheduled?

Fireworks are a highlight of our Canada Day celebrations, but safety always comes first.

Depending on weather conditions, such as high winds, dry grounds, lightning, or heavy rain, our crews may deem it unsafe to launch fireworks from the designated area. These decisions are made with guidance from fire safety officials as well as the crews launching the fireworks, and are in place to protect the public, staff, and surrounding environment.

We will announce if they are cancelled or rescheduled. The best way to stay informed is to follow our Facebook Page.

The Town of Drumheller would like to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage for their support of the Canada Day events and activities in Drumheller. This project has been made possible [in part] by the Government of Canada.

La ville de Drumheller tient à remercier le ministère du Patrimoine canadien pour son soutien aux événements et aux activités de la fête du Canada à Drumheller. Ce projet a été rendu possible [en partie] grâce au gouvernement du Canada.
