Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Committee
The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Committee is a council committee established by Bylaw 34.24 to provide oversight and guidance for FCSS programming in the Town of Drumheller. The committee plays a key role in supporting preventive social programs that enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
Purpose
The FCSS Committee is responsible for:
- Approving and monitoring FCSS-funded programs.
- Reviewing grant applications and directing funding based on community needs.
- Recommending policies for the FCSS program.
- Presenting an annual report and recommended budget to Council.
In alignment with the provincial FCSS Act, the committee also:
- Promotes stronger communities and volunteer involvement.
- Encourages public participation in planning and governance of services.
- Ensures effective use of resources.
- Supports collaboration with other service agencies.
Membership
- Comprised of all seven (7) members of Town Council.
- The Mayor serves as the Chair; if absent, a temporary Chair is appointed from attending members.
- Advisory (non-voting) members include the Chief Administrative Officer and designated Town staff.
Meetings
- The Committee meets at least twice annually, with special meetings convened as needed.
- Meetings are governed by the Town’s Council & Committee Meeting Procedure Bylaw.
- Quorum requires at least three members.
- Minutes are recorded, signed, and publicly shared with Council.
