The Town of Drumheller and neighbouring areas, including Newcastle, Midland, and Nacmine, have been placed under a Boil Water Order due to an unexpected pressure drop this morning. Alberta Health Services issued the order, effective immediately, for all points west of the Water Treatment Plant. The affected areas do not include any region east of the water plant, such as Rosedale.

According to Dave Brett, Director of Infrastructure, "We understand that the Boil Water Order may be an inconvenience for the residents of Drumheller and the surrounding areas, but their safety is our top priority. We are working closely with Alberta Health Services to resolve this issue as quickly as possible."

The Town's Water system experienced an unexpected pressure drop, which prompted the issuance of the Boil Water Order. The Town's Public Works team is working with Alberta Health Services to minimize the duration of the order and implement any necessary fixes to prevent future incidents.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking, or any activity that involves consuming water. Bottled water is also an option.

During a boil water order, tap water is not safe to drink or use as usual. It is important to take certain precautions to ensure your safety.

• Don't use tap water for drinking, preparing food (including washing vegetables and cooking rice), making juice, or preparing baby formula.
• Don't use any ice, filtered water, drinks, or food that was made with tap water. Throw it all away.
• Don't use a home water filter to try to make your water safe. Home water filters can't safely treat contaminated water.
• Don't give your pets tap water to drink.
• Don't use tap water for a pod-style coffee maker. Use a drip coffee maker only if it heats water to high temperatures.

Chief Administrative Officer, Darryl Drohomerski stated, "We want to thank the residents for their cooperation and patience during this time. We understand that this may be an inconvenience, but we are doing everything we can to have the Boil Water Order lifted as soon as possible."
