The Downtown Area Revitalization Plan (DARP) is a statutory area redevelopment plan enabled in Part 17 of the Municipal Government Act. Area Redevelopment Plans are used to designate an area of land for the purpose of improving land, building or other infrastructure in the area.

The DARP fits within a hierarchy of Town plans and policies and is directed by the Municipal Development Plan, which outlines a vision for Drumheller from a planning and development perspective and provides direction for how and where the Town should grow. It is used in conjunction with the Land Use Bylaw, which establishes rules and regulations for land development as well as the process of making decisions for development permit application within the Town.

This plan replaces the 1991 Downtown Area Plan.

A public hearing for the proposed amendment, Bylaw 08.21, will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 5:30pm. This meeting is being held to provide the public at large an opportunity to be heard in accordance to the provision of the Municipal Government Act
